Jehovah's Witnesses base their opposition to blood transfusions in this and other biblical texts. This issue is well known.
But a very new topic in itself, is the existence of an organization ex-Jehovah's Witnesses that severely critical of his former coreligionists. This is stated in (if you like click on the link):

While interned because of what appeared to be a kidney infection, tests revealed he had leukemia. Doctors who treated her had decided to transfuse platelets and red blood cell concentrate and begin treatment chemotherapy immediately. Lena said she did not want blood or blood products, because he had been taught that God forbids After a long and difficult night, Sept. 22 1993 at half past six, Lena fell asleep in death in the arms of his mother. |
Ex JW: Let's see your point of view
In our humble opinion, it's healthy Many JWs have understood how damaging that can be some strict rules of their religion, and how important it can be a blood transfusion to preserve health and save lives.
